The V6 motor is finally out

Today we pretty much completed the teardown by pulling the engine and transmission out. The interior has been gutted and we are currently trying to sell the parts we don't need. Unfortunately, the V6 engine decided to die before we pulled it (I think the attempt at burnouts may have had something to do with it), so I posted a video of that happening. Next up is putting the LS1 and the TH350 into the car and reassembly.

Picked up a Camaro

So for the race car platform we managed to pick up a pretty decent 1999 Camaro. It even includes the very rare Y87 option package including a Zexel-Torsen differential with a 3.42 gear (just like the V8 6 speeds). The car is Bright Red and shouldn't require too much work. It does have some minor damage from a deer, but it should be fixable.

Race car build

So Keith, Vivek and I will soon be building up an LS powered drag car. The original vision is to put an LS motor into a v6 body and strip out weight as a starting point. Yesterday we managed to pick up a ton of parts for the project (props to Keith for the craigslist find), including: 98 LS1 motor complete with harness, T56 and clutch assembly, 3.42 rear including brakes, Aluminum driveshaft, Lower control arms, and a Torque arm. So now begins the search for a suitable platform!
